Connect your TPlink Tapo Security Camera to Wi-Fi
To connect your Tapo security camera to Wi-Fi, follow these easy steps. This guide is easy to follow even if you are not tech-savvy, so take your time and follow along!
Step 1: Prepare Your Camera
- Open the box: Take your Tapo camera out of the box. You should find the camera itself, a power adapter, and a mounting bracket.
- Find a good spot: Choose a place to put your camera where it can see what you want it to.
- Plug it in: Connect the power adapter to the camera and then plug it into a wall outlet.

Step 2: Download the Tapo App
Get the Tapo App: On your smartphone or tablet, go to the App Store (for iOS) or Google Play Store (for Android) and search for the Tapo app. Download and install it.

Step 3: Create a Tapo Account
- Open the app: Once the app is installed, open it.
- Create an account: Follow the on-screen instructions to create a Tapo account. You'll need an email address and a password.
Step 4: Set Up the Camera
Add Your Camera: In the app, tap the "+" icon or select "Add Device." Then, Scan the QR code: Your camera should have a QR code or select the model of your Camera.
Power On the Camera: Plug in your camera and wait for about 30 seconds. The camera's LED will start blinking red and green, indicating it's ready to connect.
Connect to the Camera's Wi-Fi: Go to your phone's Wi-Fi settings and look for a network that starts with "Tapo_Cam_XXXX." Connect to this network.

Step 5: Connect to Your Home Wi-Fi
Return to the Tapo app, and it will start searching for the camera. Once found, select your Wi-Fi network from the list and enter the password. Please, connect to Wi-Fi Name: BOATER WIFI password: wireless
**If you have your own custom Wi-Fi name and password, feel free to connect to that instead!
The camera will now connect to your Wi-Fi. During this time, ensure that the LED on the camera remains solid (not blinking).
Choose a name: Give your camera a name like "Living Room Camera" or "Front Door Camera".
Select a location: Choose where the camera is located.
Step 6: Enjoy Your Camera!
That's it! Your Tapo camera should now be connected to your Wi-Fi and visible in the Tapo app. You can watch live video, record clips, and set up motion detection.
Remember: If you run into any issues, the Tapo app has a troubleshooting section, or you can refer to the official TP-Link support page (TP-Link).
